Decorating a cake: Floral Decoration
You might be surprised to know the change that decoration brings to a cake. Like you see in the picture, a plain green fondant covered cake turns out to be so picturesque with floral decoration all around it. You can do it in your kitchen too. For any cake that you bake, you can pep it up with decorations to make it look like any other expensive cake you ordered from a bakery.
Cutters are available in the market in all kinds of floral shapes and sizes. All you have to do is get some fondant ready, roll it out and let the cutter do the magic. A little of water does the magic of pasting these flowers onto the cake.
Now you can work this magic out on all your home made cakes!

Cakes do not look good bare !!

Here's a small tip:

Cakes do not look good bare.

If you do not have enough time to make a frosting by

yourselves. Then here's what you can try.

Try sprinkling icing sugar over the cake using a small tea

strainer. It also adds taste to the cake along with good looks.

You can try sprinkling icing sugar by making patterns too.

You can use templates that are already available. Or get

creative and make one by yourself!

Today we start a series of “Cake Decoration Techniques”:

The Basic and Simple Swirl:
You can make any cupcake beautiful or any cake good looking, with this basic decoration technique. You will require a nozzle of the type shown in the image, Tip 1M. You can use buttercream frosting of a medium or light consistency. To make the basic swirl, you will have to follow the following steps:
  1. Squeeze a little frosting in the centre to form a star by holding the nozzle upright at 90 degrees to the cake.
  2. Without releasing the pressure, raise the tip slightly and make a spiral around the star.
  3. Where you end the first spiral, move the tip of the nozzle to the centre again, and this time make a spiral again on the inner edge of the first spiral.
  4. Complete this second spiral, and then release the pressure towards the centre of the cake.

Now you have a beautiful and delicious looking cupcake instead of the earlier boring one.
